Part 1: K2 University and Blue Road Academy Partner to Offer Vital Salesforce Training to Refugees

As a trusted training partner to Salesforce, K2 University is always questioning how we can make a difference in the job market and bring undiscovered talent into the ecosystem. This is our mission with our Net New Talent Program.

We’ve partnered with Blue Road Academy (formerly known as Refugee Force), a social enterprise. Our shared mission is to offer Salesforce certifications to refugees.

We want to give people a chance to reach their career goals in the Salesforce ecosystem, stopping them from settling for temporary or low-skilled work.

Blue Road Academy was established in 2018 with the goal of helping refugees launch rewarding Salesforce careers. Since then, it’s gone on to win numerous awards and help change how employers and businesses view the value and skills newcomers can bring in their host countries.

At the end of 2022, K2 University partnered with Blue Road Academy and provided free Salesforce training to a group of refugees. We spoke to one of them, Ghaith Al-Muntaser, about his experience. Read on to find out more:

1. Could you give us an overview of your background?

My name is Ghaith Al-Muntaser. I’m originally from Yemen and currently live in the Netherlands. I’m married and have two daughters.

I’m a highly accomplished professional with a diverse background and a strong track record of success. Currently, I’m working as a Salesforce consultant at a leading performance marketing agency, Merkle, where I utilize my extensive knowledge and skills to help clients optimize their use of the Salesforce platform.

Prior to that, I had a background in teaching mathematics and entrepreneurship, which gave me a unique perspective and skill set that has helped me excel in my current role as a Salesforce consultant. I’m a true Salesforce expert, holding six Salesforce certifications. This demonstrates my deep understanding and mastery of the Salesforce platform and my ability to apply that knowledge to real-world situations.

My background as a maths teacher also helped me to understand and deliver complex concepts in a simple and easy way, which is a key skill in a consultant role. In addition to my Salesforce expertise, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, which I earned while achieving the top rank in my class. This background in Engineering has given me a strong foundation in technical concepts.

2. Why did you decide to train in Salesforce?

I decided to train in Salesforce for a number of reasons. Firstly, I was looking for a job that would engage my skills and interests. I recognized that the Salesforce field was growing rapidly and offered a wide range of career opportunities.

Secondly, I have a passion for both IT and business, and I saw Salesforce as a perfect platform to combine these two interests, allowing me to be knowledgeable in different fields.

I also wanted to be part of a platform that’s changing the way business operates. Salesforce was the perfect match for me. I’m drawn to the challenge of working with clients to help them optimize their use of the Salesforce platform, and I take pride in the positive impact that my work can have on their business.

Furthermore, I recognized that Salesforce is a powerful tool that can help companies in various industries, from retail to healthcare, to improve their operations, and I wanted to be a part of that.

3. How do you think K2 University’s training will benefit your career?

I believe that the training I received from K2 University in the MKT101 course has greatly benefited my career.

I have a particular interest in the Marketing Cloud and this training has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the platform and its capabilities. As a result, I believe that this training will give me more chances to work on different projects. My current employer is a leading company in the Salesforce industry and Marketing Cloud is one of their main services.

By attending that training, I was able to align with my colleagues and contribute more to the company and its clients. I also believe that the training made it easier for me to communicate with clients and understand their needs, which will help me to provide more effective solutions.

4. Now that you have completed the course, what do you hope to achieve in the future?

I have a clear vision for what I hope to achieve in the future. I plan to continue working as a Salesforce consultant and take on more senior roles, such as a Solution Architect.

I’m also planning to gain more certifications in different Salesforce clouds, expand my knowledge and skills, and be recognized as a subject matter expert in different areas of Salesforce. I’m motivated to use my knowledge and skills to help clients optimize their use of Salesforce, and as a Solution Architect, I believe I could have a bigger impact on clients’ businesses.

I want to work on more complex projects and lead a team of consultants to deliver optimal solutions to clients. Furthermore, I will keep using my knowledge and skills to contribute to my company, Merkle, by providing more options and services to their clients. I hope to help the company to expand its services and grow its client base.

Sourcing and developing undiscovered talent is key to driving innovation and change within the technology industry. Giving people a chance to forge careers that they deserve is central to K2 University’s ethos. By partnering with Blue Road Academy, we hope to continue our mission of broadening the Salesforce ecosystem with the most talented professionals on the market.
