SAP is tightening requirements for SAP consultants to maintain their certifications, but there’s an “easy” way to stay compliant – if you take action this month, says Luca Manera, Global Solutions Manager at K2 University.
Under new SAP rules, if you got your SAP certification before April 2024, it will expire on March 31, 2025. However, you can extend the validity of your certification for another year by subscribing to the SAP Learning Hub, available via K2 University, and completing an assessment before the deadline.
“The great thing about this annual assessment is that it’s quick and fairly easy. It’s just 15 questions and takes about 30 minutes to complete to maintain your certification. You can attempt it as many times as needed, it’s not proctored, and you’ll still have access to the learning materials during the test,” explains Luca.
Don’t wait until April to renew your SAP certification
It’s not so simple if you wait until April 1 or beyond. You still use the Learning Hub, but you need to complete all the modules and take a proctored exam that lasts two to three hours, with only a few retake attempts allowed. “This essentially means starting from scratch. It’s a waste of time for those who already held a particular certification, but let it lapse by missing the March 31 deadline,” says Luca.
The new regime is part of an SAP strategy to make sure people in the ecosystem get and stay certified, says Luca. “SAP hasn’t traditionally pushed certification as strongly, but recently they have invested significantly in their certification program. Now, being certified is an official recognition of your expertise and is highly valued by employers. As companies transition from ECC to S/4HANA, they are prioritizing certified professionals for migration projects,” he adds.
