Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP APO Support Consultant with strong hands-on expertise in SAP APO / SCM, focused on production support, incident resolution, monitoring, integration stability, planning process support, and continuous improvement.

The consultant will provide L2/L3 SAP APO support for the Canada operation, covering key areas such as CIF integration, CCR reconciliation, queue monitoring, process chains, APO jobs, PP/DS, Detailed Scheduling Planning Board, APO master data, setup matrix, sanity checks, and recurring operational activities.

The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, experience working in SLA-driven support environments, and the ability to collaborate with business users, ECC functional teams, Basis, ABAP, integration teams, and external planning platforms such as O9, where applicable.

Key Responsibilities

1. SAP APO Production Support

Provide L2/L3 production support for SAP APO / SCM processes in an AMS/support environment.

Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents, defects, service requests, and recurring issues within agreed SLAs.

Support planning process stability across APO, ECC integration, queues, jobs, process chains, and master data.

Perform root cause analysis — RCA and recommend preventive actions to reduce recurring incidents.

Work closely with business users to understand planning issues, assess business impact, and provide timely resolution.

Support enhancements, configuration changes, testing, documentation, and deployment activities.

Collaborate with ECC functional teams such as PP, MM, SD, integration teams, ABAP, Basis, and external systems teams.

Follow structured change management processes, documentation standards, and support governance.

2. SAP APO System Landscape Support

Understand and support the complete SAP APO / SCM system landscape for the Canada operation.

Analyze system connectivity and integration points between SAP ECC and SAP APO.

Support APO landscape-related issues impacting planning, master data transfer, process chain execution, and job monitoring.

Work with Basis and technical teams to investigate system, performance, or availability-related issues.

Maintain support documentation related to APO systems, environments, key dependencies, and escalation paths.

3. CIF Integration Support

Support CIF — Core Interface integration between SAP ECC and SAP APO.

Monitor and troubleshoot CIF integration models.

Analyze issues related to master data and transactional data transfer between ECC and APO.

Support activation, validation, and monitoring of integration models.

Investigate CIF errors related to:

Materials

Locations

Resources

PPMs / PDS

Production versions

Planned orders

Purchase requisitions

Stock and requirement elements

Work with ECC functional teams to identify root causes related to master data, configuration, or transactional inconsistencies.

Support corrective actions and validation after CIF issue resolution.

4. CCR Reconciliation Support

Execute and analyze CCR — Comparison and Reconciliation activities between ECC and APO.

Identify inconsistencies between ECC and APO data.

Analyze differences related to planning objects, orders, master data, and transactional data.

Coordinate corrections with business, ECC functional teams, and technical teams.

Support reconciliation activities as part of regular monitoring or incident resolution.

Document recurring CCR issues, root causes, and preventive actions.

5. Queue Monitoring and Error Resolution

Monitor APO and ECC queues using SCM Queue Manager and related queue monitoring tools.

Analyze and resolve queue errors impacting planning and integration processes.

Support troubleshooting of inbound and outbound queues between ECC and APO.

Identify stuck queues, failed queues, serialization issues, and data inconsistencies.

Work with Basis, integration, and functional teams to resolve queue-related issues.

Support queue reprocessing and validation after issue correction.

Maintain documentation of common queue errors and resolution steps.

6. Process Chain Monitoring

Monitor and support APO process chains, including:

Load timing

Execution frequency

Critical chains

Job dependencies

Failure analysis

Restart and recovery procedures

Analyze process chain failures and coordinate corrective actions.

Work with technical teams to investigate runtime errors, data load issues, and dependency failures.

Support regular monitoring routines to ensure planning data availability and process continuity.

Maintain documentation of key process chains, schedules, dependencies, and business impact.

7. APO Jobs and Operational Monitoring

Monitor and support important APO / ARP jobs.

Analyze job failures, runtime errors, and master data-related issues.

Support issue resolution for recurring job failures.

Coordinate with Basis, ABAP, functional teams, and business stakeholders as needed.

Maintain documentation of critical jobs, names, schedules, dependencies, and recovery procedures.

Support recurring operational monitoring required for system stability and business continuity.

8. PP/DS Support

Support PP/DS — Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling processes.

Analyze planning issues related to production planning, detailed scheduling, planned orders, resources, and constraints.

Support users in troubleshooting PP/DS planning results.

Investigate issues related to:

Planning runs

Planned order creation

Scheduling results

Resource availability

Capacity constraints

Production versions

PPM/PDS-related issues

Work with business and ECC PP teams to resolve end-to-end planning issues.

Support validation of planning results after issue correction or configuration changes.

9. Detailed Scheduling Planning Board Support

Support business users in the use and analysis of the Detailed Scheduling Planning Board.

Troubleshoot issues related to scheduling visualization, order display, resource loading, and planning board behavior.

Analyze scheduling inconsistencies and support corrective actions.

Work with planning teams to validate planning board results.

Provide functional guidance for issue investigation and business support.

10. PPMS / Planning Data Support

Support processes related to PPMS — Production Planning Management System, where applicable.

Analyze issues related to planning data, production planning structures, and integration with APO.

Support troubleshooting of inconsistencies between master data, planning objects, and planning results.

Work with business and technical teams to validate corrections and ensure planning continuity.

11. APO Master Data Support

Support APO master data setup and troubleshooting.

Analyze issues related to:

Locations

Products

Transportation lanes, where applicable

Resources

PPM/PDS

Production versions

Calendars

Planning parameters

Support new site code setup for new locations.

Validate master data consistency between ECC and APO.

Work with ECC functional teams to correct source master data issues impacting APO planning.

Support master data-related issue resolution and documentation.

12. Setup Matrix Support

Support creation, maintenance, and validation of setup matrix.

Analyze setup matrix issues impacting scheduling and planning results.

Work with planning teams to validate setup times, sequences, and production constraints.

Support testing and validation after setup matrix changes.

Document setup matrix maintenance procedures and common issue resolutions.

13. Sanity Checks and Recurring Activities

Execute and support APO sanity checks as part of regular support operations.

Validate critical planning data, integration status, process chain execution, jobs, and queue health.

Support weekly recurring activities, including Thursday activities where applicable.

Support yearly activities related to planning processes and external planning systems such as O9.

Document sanity check results, exceptions, corrective actions, and business impact.

Identify opportunities to automate or improve recurring monitoring activities.

14. O9 and External Planning System Integration

Support integration scenarios involving APO and external planning platforms such as O9, where applicable.

Analyze issues related to data transfer, planning results, interface failures, and process alignment.

Work with integration teams to troubleshoot middleware, mapping, payload, or master data-related errors.

Coordinate with business planning teams and external system support teams for end-to-end resolution.

Support annual or periodic activities involving O9 and APO planning processes.

15. Enhancements, Change Requests and Continuous Improvement

Analyze business requirements and support enhancements related to SAP APO processes.

Prepare functional specifications, test cases, process documentation, and validation evidence.

Coordinate with technical teams for development, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support.

Support change requests through structured change management processes.

Perform impact analysis across APO, ECC, CIF, PP/DS, process chains, jobs, master data, and external systems.

Identify opportunities for process improvement, monitoring automation, and recurring incident reduction.

16. Documentation, SOPs and Knowledge Management

Maintain APO configuration documents, process flows, SOPs, and support documentation.

Document incident resolutions, RCA, known errors, and workaround procedures.

Create and maintain knowledge transfer materials for recurring issues.

Ensure documentation is updated after enhancements, configuration changes, and major incident resolutions.

Maintain operational documentation for process chains, jobs, queues, CCR, CIF, sanity checks, and periodic activities.

Required Technical Knowledge

Minimum 6+ years of SAP APO / SAP SCM experience in support, AMS, or production support environments.

Strong hands-on experience with SAP APO.

Experience with SAP ECC and APO integration.

Strong knowledge of CIF — Core Interface.

Experience with CCR — Comparison and Reconciliation.

Experience with APO / SCM queue monitoring and troubleshooting.

Experience with SCM Queue Manager.

Strong understanding of process chain monitoring and failure resolution.

Experience with APO job monitoring, runtime error analysis, and operational support.

Experience with PP/DS — Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling.

Knowledge of Detailed Scheduling Planning Board.

Experience with APO master data, including products, locations, resources, PPM/PDS, production versions, and planning parameters.

Experience supporting new location or site code setup.

Experience with setup matrix creation, maintenance, and validation.

Ability to perform sanity checks and recurring operational validations.

Strong understanding of master data dependencies between ECC and APO.

Experience working with ECC functional teams such as PP, MM, and SD.

Ability to perform RCA and propose preventive actions.

Experience working in SLA-driven environments.

Ability to document solutions, functional specifications, test cases, SOPs, and issue resolution steps.
